Most of the plates we get have seen a lot of miles on the road. Occasionally though we get overstock plates and some even have the original packaging. The one pictured is from a 1969 Michigan license plate. This one pictured is neat and shows all the counties as well as their codes. License plates usually have additional meaning even if it's not a specialty plate. The note at the bottom highlights the tie for the 69 plate:
1969 PLATES HONOR SAGINAW VALLEY COLLEGE
Michigan's newest state-supported college, Saginaw Valley, is honored by the cardinal red of the 1969 license plates. Saginaw Valley was organized in 1963 as a private four-year college by the citizens of Bay, Midland, and Saginaw counties. It opened in the Fall of 1964 with less than 100 students. In 1965, Saginaw Valley became the 11th state supported college in Michigan. Enrollment by the Fall of 1969 is expected to be more than 1,000 students.
